The justice inside my head
The prosecutor, the jury, the judge—
The dread
An unholy acrimony,
The dead bury the dead
Rings made of precious meddling wrapped around each other’s middle fingers— they wed 

“Save the date”
Love and hate perpetuate
A manufactured chill by the churning of the mill
Winds of change shrill inspiring a deal.
On the steps of Capitol Hill,
It could be MAGA
It could be a bill
We’re only as free as our will
Free as the freedom we feel
For real

Pointing fingers festers up the othering.
Echoes of divorce lingering.
Reverberating wall to wall, you can hear them scream,
“What have you ever done for me!?” 
It triggers and stings 
We dance to the tune 
DNC & GOP
The greatest duet
The new Jonny and June
It’s true actions speak louder,
they do.

That’s why I’m deafened by the silence of empty promises,
Apologies lose their salt when shots are  still fired regarding it
Plus you’re the one who started it
Sounds like con artists at the heart of it, 
all of it!

They mime “I gotta get mine!”
Another tax for a good cause is really a fine.
They said it was fine. 
When greed is all you can find, 
I bet Jesus would’ve healed us all to be blind!
Or would He bring the bull whip for his pulpit
Counting nickels and dimes
Lost pearls cast to the swine 
Yet my soul sees no darkness divide
I’m wired to see sparks arcing from the heart of the Divine like I’m part of the vine.

I see insight only a few might,
I see the sun through the moonlight,
Redemption when the doom’s bright.
My voice is like a boom mic
I know the good news only gets a few likes
But neither side can stop me from choosing when and where I’m left to do right.
